During the 1960's Greensboro was lead into a new generation of change. The sit ins at Woolworth's sparked a revolution to move forward, civil rights became a crucial subject which to this day is reflective of the city. Revolution has many meanings it can either be a sudden complete or marked change in something, a procedure or course leading back to a starting point, or a drastic change in ways of thinking and behaving. The concept of the bus/shelter on the A&T campus on Dudley St. reflects through revolution. The circulation of movement throughout the structure relates to the repetitive bus route. The gesture of placement is represented through the seating being that one can move throughout the bus shelter and choose where to sit. Natural light which tends to overheat during the day is blocked out through UV ray blocking plexi glass, a material which is durable, and less expensive to replace than glass. At night LED light fixtures turn on after sun down which have been charged during the day by the solar panels located on top of the bus shelter. The mechanic structure is made up of steel columns for support of the plexi glass panelled walls. Space between the plexi glass and the roof is separated allowing air flow conveying comfort. The bus/shelter as a whole is a pause in the revolution of the bus route. Relating back to the sit ins as a pause in history. The continuous use of the system is gathered here during the waiting moments for the bus, it holds the circuit break before the transition onto ones next adventure.
